Day 2

We woke up and left Memphis this morning around 9:30 AM and we drove through Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. We only took about an hour worth of breaks and stops until the evening where we ate at The Big Texan, the home of the 72 oz. porterhouse steak. This restaurant had been advertising on billboards for the previous 300 miles all the way back in mid-Oklahoma, so we decided that we wanted to give the steak a try. We got there, and unfortanetly, it costs $200, needless to say, we didn't buy it, it's only day 2. But we bought a 36 oz. steak instead along with some buffalo quesadillas. The food was great, but 20 ounces of the steak was greased up fat, but it gave the steak some wicked flavor. This restaurant was interesting in the fact that it had its own type of culture. Waiters, waitresses, hostesses, everyone, were dressed up as cowgirls and cowboys; and yes, it's the stereotypical Texas; boots, steak, and drunken cowboys with six shooters strapped on their hip. This place also doubled as a Wi-fi hotspot and a motel, where we spent time trying to connect on the internet, but failed miserably. Anyway, they also had a unique rocking chair, and I'm telling you, it had to be the world's largest, especially when you see my little self sitting in it. This place was the best part of the day; and if you ever wonder about living in either Arkansas, Oklahoma, or Texas, don't unless you like cows; this was the most boring drive I've ever witnessed; nothing, absolutely nothing. The comical relief of the day was when we crossed into Texas; there was a rest area, with an official rest area sign and everything, but when you pulled up to it, there were no bathrooms, nothing, maybe an outhouse or 2; that's Texas for you. We didn't quite make the complete 970 mile journey to Roswell, NM; we came up about 120 miles short, and that will be day 3...
